| They can be just as bad as the thieves sometimes. Some of their practices are shady, and since they are owned by eBay it really gives them a leg up against any competition. It's too bad they've pervaded the modern consumer channels so deeply, there really isn't a good alternative or I think people would quit using them. What I've done is still allow myself to use Paypal, but I make sure that *anything* purchased is done via credit card, not via bank funds. That way I have recourse through my CC company who will almost always refund the charges. Sadly I've had to use this protection more than once, hope it helps you in the future.
